    Clunk noise while changing gear

    im hearing clunk noises everytime i shift to 1st>2nd>3rd gears....
    and when im not pressing on the clutch on idle i hear clunk nice and the car is vibrating. Is this a tranny issue? :( :(

    Either your center support bearing or your flex disc are probably badly worn or have failed.

    Not sure what you mean by the second part of your description, can you elaborate a little?

      Subframe mounts? Hearing the clunk as the driveline is loaded and unloaded.

        in idle when im not pressing the clutch my car vibrates and im hearing a clunking sound. when the car is on the road, the vibration is gone.

          Sounds like a Throw out bearing. Not sure about the clunking from gear to gear though.

            Throwout bearing sounds likely, the clunking from gear to gear could be several things. I would check your flex disc, your center support bearing, subframe bushings and rear trailing arm bushings, and rear shock mounts.

              Is there a way to check your rear bushings besides looking at them? Some type of "test". Cause when I look at them they seem alright. I also have a similar problem. Been the same for a while. You can't really see the subframe bushings to well.

                You could drive the car around and take corners, accel and decel and pay attention to how the car feels and what sounds it makes. The rear subframe bushings would make a clunk and would also cause the back end to feel loose and not planted under the car.

                  Oh lard. I don't even want to know my rear subframe bushings are bad. Do not want to replace, especially in this crap weather. I am pretty sure mine are pretty shot. The back end gets pretty squirrly. But that could also be the complete shit for tires I have wrapped around the rims in the back.

                    My car also makes a noticeable noise when I shift -- particularly if I am not so smooth with letting off the gas and hitting the clutch.

                    However, when I'm cornering, she's tight as could be. I never hear any clunks over bumps.
                    Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
                    Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
                    Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."

                      This is probably either your center-support-bearing (replaceable) or your U-joint bearings (have to replace the drive-shaft).
                      Get your car up on jackstands and try to load and rock those two parts. A lot of radial play in either component means it needs to be replaced. Check your guibo while you are under there too, lots of cracking and delamination denotes wear.
                      Failures of these three parts are systemic, that is, one part being bad will lead to the others getting bad too...

                          What do you mean loose diff? Could you explain some more? It is quite intriguing. I would like to know what to check before I go balls out into a rear end refresh.

                              My guibo was in fine shape, along with the CSB from what I could see. I'm pretty firm on it being the RSFB's.
