I fixed my manual one. I forget exactly what fixed it. I wound up replacing the lines and lithium greasing everything. The main problem is the rust gunking everything up. Take it apart, clean it, shove it back together.

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

they arent that hard to fix. Pull off the front guide covers, clean the gunk out of the cable runs, and regrease everything. Mine was so full of dust, it was skipping on one cable. a good cleanout, replacing some old assed busted parts (drivers support piece, the big plastic fucker), and it works like new again.

        hey scott

        where did you start?
did you have to pull the sun visiors to get at the screws?

There is a guide somewhere on this forum IIRC. Actually now that I remember Bentley has instructions even.

You open the sunroof about 1/2 or so, do unclip the slider part from the sunroof. You then can shove the slider back to reveal the 6 little bolts that hold the sunroof panel (3 on each side). Yes, the sun visors and the upper/front headliner part needs to come off to gain access to some of the mechanism.

Put the sunroof to the "vent" setting; when the SR is just exposed towards the rear, and start undoing the torque screws. You will eventually be able to take out the SR and will soon figure out how it all works. See whats slowing it down and clean/grease as necessary.

the panel is held onto the plastic sliders by hex bolts. then it's just a matter of cleaning and regreasing the lines

More often than not, the plastic sliders are cracked.

I didnt need to remove the internal headliner portion, I ran the sunroof all the way back and greased the cables in that position. this carried the grease inside the mechanism, and freed it up. the only thing i removed is easily done from the open position, its the forward part of the guides, and is held on with a few phillips head screws

as others have said, to pull the panel, put it back about 1/2 way, pull the front edge of the headliner down, and then push it back, this will expose the screws (torx) to remove the panel
