not to bring you down, but e30fiend had a mark d chip with 19lbs injectors and we took it to the dyno... it came out to around 127whp while my stock m20 and chip was pushing 124whp. so e30fiend went to RMS and did a custom dyno tune and now he's pushing around 133whp... just my $.02 :)

Are you saying they arent very effective? Or they are even more effective when you get teh whole thing tuned?

that must have been my chip and injectors?

Injectors don't give you that much of a power gain over a stock chip really. Custom tunes will always be better than off-the-shelf ones, how did he do that exactly?

There has to be more to the story/specifics. I'll see if I can get the dyno sheets from kishgs car. It was in the 150+ range.

A custom tune will always beat an off the shelf chip.

And usually cost alot more too.

i'll ask e30fiend, but i don't think there was any issues. he had an m30 intake (forgot what that thing is called), has a 19lbs injectors, and a mark d chip. i have everything stock but my suspensions and i was right behind his whp by 3whp, so he was piiiiiiissed lol.

his custom dyno chip costs money, but well worth it. a little bit more than what he paid for the mark d chip ($200)

it's more effective if you got a custom tune because the tuners i've been working with tells me each car has its own specs in terms of its life at that given moment (miles, compression rate, etc...), so when tuning the chip, you would tune it according to the car itself than a general tune.

mark d chips and any off the shelf chips are tuned based on the car they are using and we all don't know how many miles those m20 engines had and its compression rate, etc...

he went to RMS and dyno tuned his ride. i'm going to them once i turbo my m20 'cuz my old blue e30 that i gave to one of my buddies got tuned from RMS and it pushes 250whp (turbo m20).
