    fuel pump questions

on the 86 325e, did they all have one pump in the tank and another pump outside the tank near the fuel filter? or did some cars only have an in-tank pump?

I'm buying one and it might have a fuel pump on its way out. I have a random bosch fuel pump, p/n 0 580 254 984. when searched, I learned it is oem from a porsche, I forget which model, and I got specs as such:

    flow: 165 L/h @ 5bar
    current draw: 10 amps
    inlet: 12mm hose barb
    outlet: m12x1.5

other than having to get a fitting to convert the m12x1.5 to a hose barb, think the pump will work to get the car to its new home?

also, anyone know what diameter the fuel lines are going into and out of the stock pump on that car?

I've never worked on a 325e, but Bavauto lists both an in-tank pump, and an external pump as well...

seller said it has cutting out issues at any acceleration, hard or normal and the pump is making strange noises.
