I made a killing with my wife's old textbooks last week on ebay.just type In that isbn number and it loads pictures and gives you the average selling price. you dont have to do much of anything.Comment

half.com pays on a two-week schedule, and tells you how to ship.

USPS has a 'media mail' category. HEAVY text books will run you about $2-3. I've shipped small paperbacks for well under $1. yeah, it's a USPS special rate for media (books, cds, movies, etc). Usually quite a bit cheaper than first class postage. Most books will be right around $1-1.50.
