Be careful on the water pump, they changed in late 87 and the eBay auction isn't specific. Not sure if the gasket is different too.

The camshaft seal would be a good idea too, I'd at least have it on hand when doing the belt change.

Vacuum hoses and air boot would probably need swapping too. That's probably another $50 or $55.

Why are plug wires and O2 sensors so much for these cars? I was thinking about picking up a Magnecore set, but I'm not sure how to fit the inductive sensor on. Also wondering if there's a more economical but just as effective coil option.

You might want to check out FCPGroton (sp). They are pretty good. Ordered from them a few times.

        Search this here http://stores.ebay.com/FCP-Groton_BM...34Q2ec0Q2em322

I ordered once from FCPGroton, but I won't be doing so again.

They can't guarantee what brand of part you will get and don't seem very knowledgeable about what they carry in general. I got some no name parts in a timing belt kit from them (the belt wasn't labeled but said made in usa and the water pump had no brand stamped on it...). The parts didn't seem to be subpar quality, I made extra sure of that, but it's discouraging as whoever made them didn't feel proud enough to put their name on them.

Interesting, good to know. On that same note, do not put stuff on your car if you do not know who made it or if it is cheap. Most of the time you will end up having to replace it with parts that are of better quality a few weeks later. I have done this a few times and will ever do it again.

FCPGroton! be carefull with theit timing belt kit, i replaced like 3 weeks ago and the timing belt was a lil bit shorter than the original. So i just went to my local bmw dealer and bought the original, and the water pump was missing the seal.. besides that everithing works perfect.

FCPgroton is notorious for no name junk. They are fine and they are cheap as long as you know what youre getting. Baggypants e30 owners sometimes like to buy "bob's brand" front end parts. Youll be replacing them in 6 months but they also have some name brand stuff thats a good buy
