Ticking sounds, is that the valves pinging?

Just like I said. I cant make a video/sound clip cause my cams broken. Sounds like a ticking under load, coming up from the shifter, but not really.

Man..hard to describe a sounds isnt it? I know I know... vid clip would help.

Question is... will adjusting valves get rid of the "pinging" or ...sounds more like a tick actually. IN the cabin.. not the sewing machine usual sound.

    Thanks for any suggestions!!

when was the last time your valves were adjusted?
what kind of oil are you running?
      5spd or auto?

we need moar information dammit. however i would say start with a valve adjustment first if you need it, and go from there...

does the tick/ping come from idle/acceleration/whut/time travel?

when the engine is warmed up, stone cold...

LOL, it is hard to diagnose without hearing it... lmao

You say it comes up from the shifter?
            What car is it?

Mine sometimes makes a similar sound which is because of a loose shift plate hitting/scraping (slightly) on the vibration dampener.

Mine's an eta, so it's a shift plate, and not the aluminum rod used on later models.

              Mines not an eta.

And it sounds like it is coming from the engine and is associated with the engine, as it happens between 2-3k then pretty much stops.

But it does it almost every time Im accelerating from a stop, or shifting first to second, or second to third.

Valves Im thinking but any ideas will be helpful.

if its been 10-14k miles since the last valve adjustment, it would be time to do so now

Worn injectors will also tick like crazy. Best to do your valve adjust first and while ur at it replace those rocker seals and get a new vc gasket. might as welll make it a hat trick and get some copper cores in there too.
