hey guys just picked up my first e30( 318i). new to bmw.

Hey guys, not to long ago i sold my mk2 vw-gti,16v..and I've been looking on craig's list and a bunch of forums for a new car. found this 1984 318i, for 900 bucks.it has 134,xxx miles on it. its an auto( looking to swap it). and the colors horrible but idk i think its kind of growing on me.

if you guys can give me any tips or anything because i am new to this whole BMW things, then feel free.

im going to be posting pictures up all the time on the progress of my build.




the paint is not original, the guy before the guy i got it from just sprayed it with all of the parts on the car so the mirrors,door handles,trim,window seals were all painted yellow. i am slowly bringing it back. and i need to get around to get an oem muffler... this thing is hideous.

i plan on putting a nice stance to it

haha yeah it definatly does look like a banana, im thinking black in the summer time.as for the trim peices, i painted them all already and now i gotta do the bumpers, idk how i feel about it though because i dont know exactly which paint to use.

what suspension do you guys suggest? i want something affordable, but i dont want it to feel like im on a trampoline.

if nothing has ever been replaced you'll need to do control arms, control arm bushings, subframe and trailing arm bushings, upper rear/front shock/strut bushings, when you pick your springs/shocks.

bilstein or koni shocks + h&r sports or h&r race (stiffer/lower than sports).

thanks dude, im definatly going to go with the bilstein/h&r race..ive been looking up the suspensions lately, and thats actually what i found to like the most. im def doing with that.

Nice deal on the 318i , No one has yet to beat me lol , I got mine for 300 Bux , clean title , running , 5 speed , stock 3.91 LSD , Nice dark brown int ,and the car lasted about 12k

jeeze man thats nuts. yeah the interior is fair in this one, the back seat was all ripped at the seams but sewed them all up. and idk if this is a common problem with these seats but they dont fold foward?

they should , somtimes it gets sticky or the cord is screwed up
