Strange request: I need to borrow a bra!

    No, not for boobies. :D

I'm picking up my new E30 very soon, and to get it home, I have to drive it over the mountain pass about 130 miles. Since it snows a great deal in the mountains here, they sand the roads with red cinder gravel (volcanic rock), and it's murder on the front of a car.

What I'm requesting here is that someone here who has an E30 bra let me borrow it for a weekend. I would be more than happy to pay shipping for you to send it to me, and for me to send it back. Please let me know if you can help me out, the paint on my new E30 is damn-near flawless, and I really want to try to protect it as best as I can for the drive home.

josh, i "might" beable to help you out. I'll ask a friend of mine, but he may want a "usage" fee as well. Ill try and get him to be nice. What dates are you looking at using it?

I'm picking up the car the weekend of Feb 26 / 27, possibly sooner.

I have a hood bra that I could bring back to Eugene on Monday (im in portland now). But if it's raining you're not going to want to use it. It'll F up your paint (and the bra).

I'm hoping for one that covers the whole front, but thanks, Ken.

I have used plastic shrink wrap before, just use several layers attached with blue tape. its pretty quick and you can protect the whole hood/lights/mirrors/bumper/fenders pretty easily.
Also, don't tailgate people on the road, that will help keep the rock chips to a minimum.

I actually have a large roll of that industrial-use "saran wrap", that stuff that they use to wrap pallettes. I'll just do like you suggested, Ryan, use several layers of that, and then secure it all with blue tape. My mom just painted the inside of her house, and has a ton of it leftover.

As far as not tailgating people, that may work most of the time, but this shit they put on the roads is horrible. When we last drove my wife's 89 325i over there, on the way home, a truck about 50 yards in front of us kicked a rock out at her windshield and put about a dime sized chip in it. :(

Thanks for all the quick responses and info, guys.

Put full coverage on your new e30, so that if you happen on an inciednt on your way home, you can get a new windshield/headlight/foglamp/etc!! :) An extra few bucks for the first month or so might be worth it.

(this is assuming you are cheap like me and don't have full coverage on it in the first place)

                      :)

No can do, me lady. I just got my license back after a one-year suspension due to an at-fault accident with no insurance (no how it sounds, PM me if you must know).

Quite frankly, I'd rather take it up the butt, because they'll do worse than that.

Oh yes. yes. I forgot, my bad. Your accident pre-dates my arrival at r3v. SO, yes, that would make a full coverage premium very uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend it. I wouldn't recommend taking it up the butt either though, that also doesn't feel so hot. ;)

I must make you wait. No sense in whoring it all over the forum when I don't have it yet. :D
