    is it worth it?

    two options.

    1) a zinno 86 Eta. 191,000miles working odometer ,decent shape, some rust, bad interior (probably get stripped anyways)
motor cranks nicely, sounds good, but the fuel pump is dead, (no fuel at rail) mostly looks unmolested. definately needs some work, but it is a straight body. abs, 4 wheel disc, working manual sunroof,
its beens sitting for a few years though.

    2) 85 528e 126,000, didnt crank, got a weird buzzing sound and the triangular check light... not even a little turn over. . seems electronic.. (relay fuse etc??) its in really good shape, minus the clear coat, 5-lug deep dish bottlecaps!, interior is nice. (it was parked b/c the owner wsa tired of putting money into it)
its misssing the wiper linkages and seems like the fusebox has been opened.
(what kind of motor is this, 2.7 superE? ..6k tach )

what should i do? about 400 for either.
is it worth it to buy either?

thats what i thought too. but the tach goes to 6k and i thought etas were 5k and its labeled 528e ? but the 2.7 was labeled 325e weird.

the triangular ! light was on and no crank at all, but low mileage eta motor!

              and a 3800lb beast.

and the eta. which cranks but no fuel and 191,000 miles.

what would you do.. ? keep in mind i only have a cabrio now.

get a coupe shell, strip it and have a fun eta to work on, beater.

get a 5 series 4 door, keep the interior and have a lower mileage sedan to daily beat?

wait for something better and save my money?

Totally, if its been sitting for while think:

                      all fluids
                      rotors
                      TB
                      waterpump
                      valve cover bullshit

I bought my first ETA running for $300 bucks...needed some exhaust work...took me about two months of scouring to find one that cheap

so the e28 would be worth it?

e28 COULD be worth it. No crank can be a bitch to really get polished out ;)

I'd say e28, but then again, that's my next car. Biased > Broken e30 still.

The e30 seems to be in much netter shape. I'd go for the easiest to fix up.

it looks like theres a big chunk o' gum stuck to the engine. I think I'd leave them in the junkyard and maybe just take some parts.... and buy a running, less-crappy condition car.
