Why can't I drag and drop files from my iPod into my Library on iTunes?

Apple wants to discourage stealing music so they don't allow you to transfer from your iPod to iTunes. They don't want people using their iPods as little hard drives to steal music from each others machines. I've heard there are programs you can download that will allow it though.

iPods don't play gapless. You ever heard of listening to Dark Side of The Moon with gaps? Not me.

is there any program like that for the mac? i want to transfer from my ipod (ill load my friends library first) to my powerbook. anyone have any programs?
By The Way, he has a PC, i have a mac, will that not work? but also for mac to mac, becuase another friend has a mac
