how much do you think it cost for parts for basic maintenance that needs to be done when picking up one of these cars, i have a friend that works at a small garage so tools and labor aren't an issue.just curious so i know about how much im looking at getting myself into, as soon as i pay my wifes new car off ill know how much i can spend.

89-91 318is, great daily, you can still do a few mods to improve the feel and fun factor like lowering on race springs, put some nice wheels/tires on. the advantage to this car is its weight, being super light it will carry you around corners really smoothly, but the downside is that at its a little slower on hills.

parts dont matter. there are thousands of crashed e30s. That shouldnt even be an issue for your decision.

get a 325iS latemodel. Don't listen to those 4 cyl. pansies!!!! the 6 cyl is so much more fun to drive-- and make sure its a 5 speed too.
actually if your coming back from afgan.-- you gotz da monies-- buy an M3!
