    Kleen wheels

Anyone have experience with these? They fit between the wheel and the brake assembly ostensibly to reduce brake dust getting on the wheels. Having just spent several hours cleaning my euroweaves -- with frickin' Q-Tips! -- I'm wondering if they actually work and how they might look behind a set of weaves.

I await your collective wisdom ...

As far as I remember these are heat traps.

Once you install them, the only thing you see behind the design of your wheels is a metal plate. Not exactly the look I'm going for.

Clean your wheels ridiculously well, and then wax them. Brake dust and other shit will then for the most part just spray right off.

They look weird. An e65 came into work with these. They get the job done, but I wouldn't put them on mine.

My dad insisted on them when I built him his 88 325is. I scoffed at them but they really do work. i think they are fine for a normally driven street car. if you really push it hard i would think they would trap some heat but not enough to worry about. you cant even see them behind weave. they would look like shit on a more open wheel

i had them on my jeep cherokee for like 2 weeks then i took them off. i don't really know why i took them off. just didn't look right and its probably good to have some airflow in there.

I know the guy who invented them, his shop is few blocks away from me. I was selling toilet water savers for him while I did bathroom remodeling, and noticed the bav auto mag on his desk. I brought up the heat issue. He basically told me the feedback at SEMA was crazy, he's made millions since, cant scoff at that. And theres no physical proof that they deny the brakes to shed heat. (i still dont buy it)

He gave me a free set to try, I gave them to a frind that drove a honda. Save your money. Go into your local grocery store, and buy the baby bottle cleaner. Its foam and rubber and fits into the creases nicely.

                  Thanks, guys ...

... didn't think I'd get so many well-reasoned responses so quickly. Blunt, I think I'm with you -- they aren't apt to have much of a visual impact behind a set of weaves. As for the potential heat issue, shit, I'm 50 years old -- can't see myself tearing up the street too much and, besides, I've got working ducts through the spoiler hopefully doing their thing. And no damn way I'm going to wax every nook and cranny of four 15" weaves -- bad enough to clean them in the first place! ;-)

Thanks again, guys. Appreciate the input.

i remember researching about these and i saw a picture of a document saying that BMW doesnt recommend them because they will overheat your brakes

The PO had them on my car behind the stock weaves. You couldn't tell they were there and they kept the wheels really clean. For a street car, go for it, they worked great. I never had an issue with the brakes.

If you're concerned with dust I would just get some low dusting pads. I'm loving my Hawk Ceramics

Never liked them myself. Just wash the wheels, what's so difficult about that.

There were a set on my 90 325i with bottlecaps, They were the cleanest bottles I had ever seen except the oddball chromies.

Changed wheels to 16's so I sent them out with the bottles.

only 1 person has the right idea....

                              get higher performance pads/ rotors.
im running brembo drilled/ and pbr metal masters

havent had a dust problem in years, and i kill my brakes
when i 1st bought this car, it came w/bottle caps, and i spent hours every wheek cleaning them.
                              bought special brushes.
                              all pointless.

after the correct brakes were installed (i rebuilt that too) i never looked back, and whenever i notice brake dust on ppls cars. i laugh thinking how much free time i got back from doing a job right

those covers are a few things
                              - added weight
                              - waste of money imo
                              - heat barrier, this may also lead to further wear on your stock brakes.

so, really, it may be detrimental on more than the surface
