Finishing up my dash swap...Where does this wire connect to?
How was the swap? I would like to get around to this soon, and am scared out of my wits to tear into this mess.

The dash swap is time consuming
I took my time
labeled all the wires
took pictures along the way
labeled the nuts and clips and bagged them in ziplock bags.
and also had a hard time swapping the vin tags.
but all in all pretty straight forward.
I also used the time to replace the ac heater box foam gasket.
diy guide to swaping the dash its 90% accurate its missing a few steps here and there.
1
There are 4 screws that hold the hvac panel in place
the upper 2: you have to have removed the hazard and defrost and window breaker switch to access the screws
The lowers: you have to have removed the upper center console and the screws are directly underneath the hvac panel and in front of the heater box.
2
Its easier for some of the steps with the seats out.
3
Take the dash out the passenger side.
4
The wiring harness clips and far right corner and far left corners of the dash are really difficult to get to so take your time.
5
When I did mine I added a new alpine headunit and wired that in and removed the fader.
6
I rebuilt the cluster with new odometer gears
new bulb housings and new bulbs.
7
I put on an mtech 1 wheel to wrap it up and get rid of the ugly 4 spoke wheel.
8
there is 1 8mm screw holding the upper center console to the dash and its located right below the fan speed.
The swap is done, wasn't difficult. Just time consuming. Can someone show me what the obc connector looks like? It comes from the instrument cluster right? I can't seem to find the connector...
Thanks danny, appreciate the semi long post you took the time to type up for me.

Where does it come from though? The back of the cluster or the stalk? This is a 6 button one if that makes a difference...I have my hvac panel out and can't find the connector, so its probably tucked behind the dash where it comes from...
I did my dash swap the very first day i bought my first e30.
It wasn't really that hard. It's pretty common sense stuff.
Time consuming? The first time, yes. Second time, maybe 1/4 of the time it took the first swap.
I'm not a wizard and I still got it done successfully.
