is this a stupid idea? my boss has a 22gallon fuel cell that he doesn't need anymore. he now uses a smaller one. how do i put one in my trunk or is it a stupid idea and i would be getting nothing out of it? would it give me more traction? would it handle any better having the tank right over the rear axle?

Yes it is a stupid idea.
Why you ask? Well for one thing you wold be sacrificing your whole trunk for no good reason. Second ever heard of polar moment of inertia? Basically putting more weight near the ends of the car = bad handling. You might get a bit more traction as you say but who cares.
