    Insurance?

I was just wondering how many of you guys have collision on your e30s. I think I may cancel my collision since it is the biggest chunk of of the bill, and its really hurting my mod budget.

I dont pay insurance yet but will be any day now and i would myself recommend you keep it just in case since there are alot of assholes out on the road.

For instance my parents rented a van to pick up my sister from college and the rental company offered this little fee if you wanted to have the collision insurance coverage thingy put on it and they said no as they didnt think they would get into and accident well behold on the way back home less then 10 miles from the house some drugged up hippies slammed into the rear of the van, After tons of paper work and junk they were out of the water with it and were all set but if they only had payed that little xrta amount of money they wouldnt have had to do all that paper work

    I personally would keep it.

      I have collision and comprehensive.

If some douchebag breaks all my windows and steals my CD deck, I'm covered.
If I get in an accident and "bad weather" is ruled the cause, I'm covered.

I'd say it's definitely worth it. It is costly though, at least for me. Being only 18 years old and on my own insurance plan, 1 year costs $3025 for me in Massachusetts (registered and insured there, "garaged" in NY). But I'd rather pay all that money knowing that I'll get some money if nearly anything happens to my car, instead of only paying about $1900 and being shit out of luck when something happens.

I run full covereage on my M3 because its a $20k car.
I run liability only on my 325E because its a $1k car. if I get in an accident with it, I will part it out and make my money back that way...
I would run collision if you have spent a lot of time and money on your car, and if you drive recklessly and think you might have an accident.

oh, and my insurance is only $1,266 a year for both my bimmers. I don't live at home, and I am a 21 year old male with an accident on my record.

I have comprehensive, but not collision. My car isn't worth enough to justify it.

I have liabilty on my BMW's just because the are old and not really worth spending $700 extra on the three of them. So I pay $240 on each a year and my wifes Passat we pay full for $810 a year.

Weigh your options when I comes to insuring your car.

Wow for an extra $1200/year you should consider not having it. Because it's not just the premium, but you will certainly pay even more if you ever file a claim. Trust me on this one! For that price you can handle a minor collision every year and a major one every three years. That also doesn't even take into account the deductable issue.

I only pay $600/year for the car, collision included, it's worth it for $150/year but not $1200.

Collision is $600 per year for me. I think I'm going to drop it.

                    I'm running just liability...who wouldn't on an 87 ETA. :p

I got in one VERY MINOR accident about 3 wseeks ago. I got VERY lucky, all I hit was a truck's tire. They had it checked a week ago, still no work back. All we did is transfer insurance info, so I think I won't ever be hearing from them again. I got very fortunate.

Will I ever go for anything more than liability? Probably not. In my accident, all that broke was my bumper trim, and my insurance will never know I got in an accident. ;)

If I had a nicer car, I probably would. But, all depends on cost. At my age, 17, it probably wouldn't be worth it.

                      Full coverage. Both cars.

The recent experience with the BMW was a good lesson in why collision coverage is a good thing.

Even though I wasn't at the wheel--my collision covered it (per WA state law).

I can replace a $300 stereo out of pocket. I wouldn't have been happy paying a $5000 repair bill.
