Why don't you guys use a heated wire MAF from a Thunderbird or Tauris SHO or something easy & cheap to find? mine works great. The PPO got it from Split Second & you can go into any junkyard and grab one for $5... It's easy, cheap & really makes a difference. Oh & I didn't do the install but nothing blew up!

'97 328s probably used a bosch maf w/ 4 pins. The '98 used a seimens MAF which is ALSO 4pins. I was looking @ the '97 diagram because that's all i had @ my disposal. I went and downloaded the newest mitchell 2003 and looked @ the '98 diagrams. Sure as shit, the wiring is slightly different.

i fried my MAF anyways. The units from '97 and '98 are different. I had a '98 unit and thought it would be OK to use '97 diagrams... WRONG!

Where did you download the Mitchell 2003? This would come in handy for a lot of us.

Wasn't there another post on his?

What you have to do, is connect a volt meter with some data logging capability. Fluke makes a great on $550

Then go drive around in all gears at all throttle positions, then map out the voltage with that. If you really want to do it right, add on a POT TPS piggybacking the normal TPS and create a 3d map of voltage relative to throttle position.

Then you can see what voltage the DME needs for a MAF and try to match the voltages.

I have no idea what the voltage output would be. I tried askign E36 owners to go out and test it but no one would.
