OP: You really have not tangled with some one that 1) was running any kind of tune or mods, and 2) was really trying to race you. Even stock at 6k pounds with 340hp and 550ft/lbs, will knock the doors off most stock drive line e30's. Similar power to weight but a HUGE torque advantage to the diesel

My F150 is limited at 115 and my E30 does not get too much faster than that.

I was out in the country all summer and my buddy's powerstroke diesel used to smoke me daily I would be pulling away only to realize he was still spinning his tires once they grabbed he would go by like a train. Felt like I was going to get blown off the road.

When I used to commute in my K5, the biggest problem I had, was the Honda guys just had to be in front of me. Then for some stupid reason they'd step on their brakes. Those folks didn't have a good grasp of Physics.

I hate bros, but I do love all 3's diesel's trucks..... Stock diesel's pretty much crush stock e30s in 0-60 and 1/4 miles.

Trucks are lame. Put the powerplant in a car if you wanna go fast, or get a sportbike. Take the truck off road or you're an asshat just like the rest of us BMW pricks.

I don't get the racing trucks here,
they can be fast, but what i do know is, the trucks that are racing you, may be used to racing newer bmws w/automatics and poor drivers.

my g.f. just bought a 2002 540i sixspeed, and it can break your neck, and has awesome pull, but i think mines faster 0-30mph, and then that 540 will leave me behind.

and reallty, if those truckers want to go fast, let em.
maybe their bmw is in the shop, and they are barrowing a truck to get mroe e30 parts, (which is why i bought my truck, basically to get parts while i rebuilt my e30)
