Thanks again guys...We all know that this is a BMW forum and we all own a BMW (me three LOL), but at heart we're all car nuts...and motorsport is the ultimate tuning and most raw a performance car can be, and its always on the limit, even when going slow! Thanks for kind comments...I one day hope that I can get involved in NASCAR, maybe watching too much Mr Cruize on days of thunder I guess??? LOL

I love NASCAR...And it just seems so much more extreme than GT, but I'm just thinking about getting a visa to stay in the USA and get out of the UK LOL Maybe the American dream is what I seek rather than actually working for NASCAR

GT racing on the other hand...ALMS, LMP1 Prototypes ;) Nice........!!!

I don't know how you could come from that and want to be with NASCAR, I guess the grass really is greener on the other side.
From this side, your grass looks full of fast cars and hot women :P

Definitely quality posts, look forward to seeing more from the stash.

                    MOAR PICS!!!

The only thing more awesome than being on a crew at events like this would be driving one of the cars.

                    Simply awesome, Dean.

This was going to be my question. What have you done as far as schooling goes, to better prepare you to be on such a seemingly high caliber race team? I'm extremely interested as I am to start college next semester, and this looks like way too much fun.

Have you made a purchase from www.blunttech.com recently?

I've just read the posts above...I got a PM a few days ago from a fellow member and this answered the above question...abeit a little vauge but this is the reply I sent and a rough outlay of pushing ones self into motorsport. I didn't mention that I did a BSc (Hons) in Engineering, barr that everything is how I ended up in the position I am now. (More pictures at bottom even I'm surprised by how many I actually took boys LOL)

                        ''Hi

Thanks for your message, I'd be glad to speak with you. As your aware I live in Scotland so all my connections will be totally usless over in the USA, sorry dude.

Anyway, I'll start with telling you the obvious, find what branch of motorsport you enjoy, don't get bogged down thinking you have to work in F1 or Nascar, the best oppertunities arise from places you least expect. My passion was rallying (being Scottish and growing up watching Colin McRae become world champion helped that ) and supercars/GT racing such as Le Mans 24hr or in your case Sebring.

I worked my way through school then college, specilising as you've said in maths, english and physics and playing on a sports team...you have to be a team player and best way to learn is playing sport whether football or wheelchair basketball its all relitive. Motorsport is stressful and its best to find a way to deal with working with stress in a team to your advantage.

As for getting a job on a team, find a local team, join up to a motorclub and attend events, even boring ones because you never know who'll bump into you (also there could be a cool crash to see). Speak to the guys in the service/pit area and act interested and ask/give/exchange contact details, even if nothing comes of it, you've made a pleasant impression and if they see you again you may get what you came for first time round.

Look on websites, get address's and telephone numbers and arrange to meet local teams and offer services free, and eventually you'll get offered a job.

It depends how determined you are and where you want to end up. I took the above steps and travelled europe with a Porsche 911 which I ran in an international GT series and when I started I was in your position.

Good luck and sorry I can't be off more use to you.

                        Dean''

I hope that answers alot of questions and I'll get some juicy BMW pictures up soon as the response to them is incredible...as I say these are my personal collection and not ''google'' images so it means alot petrol/gear heads enjoying them with me.

It was tough seeing this every other day LOL

This Porsche 911 GT3 RSR never actually raced in the time it was in our workshop...come to think of it it never even started up either!!! Still cool though!

Heres some more from my GT collection.

I quite often attended shows at the year start...get an idea of competition and generally get the heart racing at the metal/carbon on show, Now I don't bother because I'm used to it...but...back then it was exciting.

                        LOL!

Here is the prototype Ascari AC10...WOW!!!

                        My favourite GT car ever!!!

Forget your muscle cars we have...

Heres some shots when we went over to Belguim...this was the Dutch GT cars and trust me these guys had some tasty sweet and beautiful cars racing! Enjoy

My best shot I ever took was this...

One for you guys over the Atlantic...these are really popular in the UK...This one here actually won the British GT Championship in 2007 and was a threat too in the FIA GT series in 2008 also

The other team car was sponsered by an adult film production company...lets say my ex girlfriend never let me keep the pictures of those grid girls

I started off as tea boy on work experience, then got involved with the running of the 996 for certain races. I was involved with everything from logistics to from track, wheels tire management, set up of car (that was uber boring), fuel control, between race repairs to helping, laptop analysis/set up data and partaking in complete engine changes and stripping to bare shell back to race mode. It started off simple then by the end of two years I was left with demanding technical jobs involving the 996, I only helped trackside with general set up on the 997. I'll admit I wasn't the most amazing but I got the job done to a high standard and within time so I was given the oppertunity at a young age to travel europe/Dubai doing a job I loved whilst I studied at university. So in essance I was a glorified grease monkey and the grid boy too. It has led me to a job in avaition from the skills and knowledge I gained

This is one advantage, i could take girlfriends and have time alone with the race cars and ''explain'' how they work ;) i used to bring this girl with me to race weekends as i was running the car and she was great to be there. My team felt like a close family, thats one of the joys of a close race team you don't get with other jobs.

I'll get some pictures of the mercedes DTM cars up as I have loads, they are mental, basically F1 cars with a car bodyshell...and they sound like nothing you've ever heard before!

P.S Thanks, the comments I thought made an awesome sig, helped my ego I guess LOL! I've just realised i've been on here a couple of months and only mentioned once about my E30 and E36's I own LOL, and this thread has nothing to do with either LOL
