Maint. is the first mod. Belts, hoses, brakes, suspension, tires... things that matter more than chip and exhaust..

after the t.belt and water pump are replaced, and other maintenence (none are as important as the timing belt btw) than the easiest / cheapest things are

            - weight reduction

and what kind of mods are you looking for

a- gas saving mods (like a 2.93 diff)
            b- speed
            c- handling
            d- safety

these are things we should know,
            otherwise.
            the favorites include
            = 4.10 LSD
            - short shifter
            - clutch stop
            - strut tower brace
            - jim Conforti chip
            - springs/shocks/ breaks/ wheels/
            - air bag delete
            - e36 steering rack

you already have ellipsiods and plastic bumpers, so that should be a start.
            welcome to the forum.

and i would not suggest streetglow, but a fluxcapacitor would be nice.

E30s are fat pigs. the carpet weighs like 50 pounds or more. The windshield weighs like 30 plus, and that is on a high center of gravity! I am not even gonna get into how much certain motor components weigh, but I will tell you this: replacing your fender bolts with high-tensile strength aluminum or titanium aircraft rivets can shave quite a bit of weight, and swapping out to a hollow camshaft can shave 20 pounds off your motors rotating mass!

                Welcome to R3V.

if you do it right you can get it down to 2200lbs with a full interior
