    Anyone that plays paintball...

Pro paintball is dumb, but I've learned there are many people I know that play in the suburbian woods military style. None of this rapid fire crap that was mentioned in the last paintball post.
Anyway, the point of this post is to ask your opinions on my gun and whether or not I should buy a new one:
I wanted to spend very little, so I bought a Spyder Victor 2 w/low-pressure chamber, 9, 12 and 20oz tanks with remote CO2 kit, delrin bolt, and 22 inch and 9.5 inch barrels. Granted the gun isn't bad in my eyes, but my friends are ripping on it because they have tippman 98 customs and autocockers and other more expensive guns. I always lose when we play.
-My question is should I ditch all this and go for a $200 plus gun? Is a "modified" Victor 2 really that much worse than any of these other guns?

p.s. What makes the Spyder victor 2 so much worse than anything else?

every spyder ive played with devleps some problem of having a full tank and "hiccupping" when you pull the trigger....like you pull it all the way back and it will shoot 3 or 4 short burts each time...not bursts of balls...but c02 bursts

dunno.. but i used to play with a pump for the longest. I think its just your skill. Go out run drills and get better. If you feal your equipment is not up to par then sell it and get something else. Im pretty sure if you do sell it, get a impulse there co2 ready as long as they have the little stick in the co2 tank. Either than that run drills, practice, and when u get them out shove it in there face.

not sure on how long it takes to develop...i began thinking it was some design flaw in the gun because even after i took it to shops and they "fixed" it, it would still do the same thing

          but maybe im wrong

if i had to do it again, id get a tippman

90% of paintball is skill. I've seen a guy plow through a field of guys with nice guns with a really shitty rental tipman.

Skill yes, but there's only so far skill can take you. I guess I was just wondering if there was some inherent design flaw in the spyder victor II that cannot be fixed.
Not in terms of performance, but more the mechanical reasons for it's performance, what is the main difference between a mid-grade spyder and the Tippman 98?

I think a really good starter gun for just playing in the woods is a Tippman A5 with a flatline barrel. I only played once but it was sooo fun. I played with a Tip 98.

everyone tells me they're great, but I got my gun for 50 bucks, and wasnt willing to spend 150+ at the time. Now that I've tuned the gun up a bit, It's still cost me less than that. I guess I'll just dick around with the velocity, play with the barrels, and hope the new bolt solves some problems. This weekend I'm off of work on Saturday and Sunday for the first time in what seems like forever. I'll probably spend some time in the woods or my backyard tuning the gun up.

Tippman 98s arent all that expensive. The Custom kits can be but who needs all that shit for backwoods fun?

I just borrow my freind's brother's angel. Paintball is a waste of time and Ill be damned if its gonna be a waste of money too.

I've got a Victor 2 also. I really like it, mainly for the fact that you can tear it down in the field easily. You blow an O-ring, 2 minutes. You get a tipman and you have to literally unscrew the whole gun.

I've had a couple of problems with the gun hiccuping, but I honestly think its because my gun gets too cold. We were plying in 25 degree weather and below, and the whole gun would just be encased in ice.

I really like the sypder, cheap and fun. We play military style in my woods about once a month, usually 4-4 teams. good times.
