ssk and the selector rod

I put my z4 3.0 ssk in but now realize after reading and driving i need to bend the selector rod. what exactly is this and how do i bend it. I have an idea but i want to get some exact infomation. thanks.

I took off my harmonic balancer.... so much easier.

thanks for that UUC site that was exactly what i needed, thanks everyone. Other than that fact that i rub in 2nd gear the z4(3.0) feels soo nice a very good upgrade.
