    Protected .WMA question

    first, id like to say.

    *ahem*

    fuck napster and their copywrighted wma files.

    ok, heres my problem.

    Through UT every student gets a free subscribtion to napster, so we can download all the music we want. and id have to say, napster is GREAT! its very easy to download full alubums without problems.
    well, the only downfall to this system is that you dont download .mp3's. all the files are .wma files. not only that but they are protected wma files so you cant burn them on cd's or put them into itunes (in turn no more music on my IPOD).

    ive downloaded a few different programs trying to figure out how to change these files to mp3's or OGG's but i always run into errors like
    "file has copywright protection" and other bullshit like that.

    YES no shit.


    we have the time same thing here but i use a program called "Ruckus"


    the protection is called DRM or something i think

            1. download and install winamp

            2. download and install the winamp plug-in output stacker
            Winamp builds tools that empower artists to manage their music and revenue, while delivering a player that offers a seamless listening experience. Discover our products!


            3. open winamp options->plug-ins->output->dietmar's output stacker->configure
            a. add out_ds.dll from winamp/plug-ins folder
            b. add out_disk.dll from winamp/plug-ins folder
            c. select out_disk.dll in the output stacker->configure
            d. set the output directory and output file mode to force WAV file
            e. exit preferences

            4. load downloaded napster protected WMAs into your winamp playlist

            5. press play and each file will be converted to WAV as it plays

            6. convert from WAV to MP3 or burn to CD or whatever tickles your nuts
            past:
            1989 325is (learner shitbox)
            1986 325e (turbo dorito)
            1991 318ic (5-lug ITB)
            1985 323i baur
            current:
            1995 M3 (suspension, 17x9/255-40, borla)

                ive got a bunch of songs converting right now... to bad you gota listen through the whole song before it converts :?

                ive got about 1000 songs to convert so far... this is gona take a while
