Id have to say drifting is more of an art then a sport. Its all subjective. Kinda like stunting motorcycles. They issue trophies and money but since most kids in high school can't get a motorcycle, us adults who don't try to make things seem more important then they are don't pretend its a sport.

THAT is what I fucking hate, the use of the word grip. When I say tracking my car to anyone I get "Oh you drift?!?".

there's nothing wrong with drifting... it's just another way of racing. i see where some people get the similarities that it's like figure skating, and you know what? it is. but it's fun to play around on the track, just like it's fun to go ice skating... i mean, play ice hockey.

TRACKING! Tracking your car is what you call "Grip".

When YOU'RE going "tracking" and not "grip". You should say I'm going "drifting".

I've drifted at a local figure 8 track at a sanctioned practice a few times. But the vehicle dynamics I learned to step out there and get along well even first time was learned at the track or in auto-X.

edit: Drifting is fun, but so are donuts. It gives joy to the redneck in me. But should not be put on the same level as HPDE / TT. Maybe Auto-X...
