    Problems with eBay transaction

So I sold a properly functioning MiniDisk player on eBay. The buyer has emailed me saying that the systm does not work. I wrote him back assuring whether if he is using the system correctly, but I have not received any replies as of yet.

Sure, there could have been damages during shipping, but I know that it was working properly when I had it in my hands - I also doubt that it would just break during shipment.

what do you guys suggest that I do ?

Are you offering a warranty with the unit? If not, just tell him he messed it up. You insured the package, correct?

is there an eBay policy for warranty? Because although I did not explicitely say that I am offering some kind of warranty, I also did not say that I will NOT offer warranty.

But yes I believe the package was insured up to $100 CAD.

Tell him to deal with the shipping company. End of story.

actually there is more than just him dealing with shipping co.

he has to make the formal complaint but you have to show all the info and replacement costs. you bought the insurance not him. so no you are not out. you are obligated.

            1. was it working when you shipped it? if yes go to 2. if no send money back.
            2. did you pack it well? in the factory packing or better? not just in a box with newprint. if yes go to 3. if no send his money back.
            3. he should have made a claim with the carrier ASAP. If he made a claim then go to 4. if he did not it is now his box of garbage.
4.he maid a claim. you wait till the carrier agrees to adequate packing. (UPS has a new system and doesnt give payouts like they used to) if carrier agrees to adequate packing go to 5. if carrier declines claim go to 6.
            5. Assist in making insurance claim this will result in showing replacement costs etc. Send him the insurance settlement once you get it. Yes it comes to you not him. then you are done.
            6. You didn't pack it well enough send his money back.
