what would you pay for a 74 2002?

for a 74 2002 non tii that has sat for 7+ years? good body, no rust, 4spd, ran before it sat(like this means anything after 7 years). I don't even know where to start. The owner is a teacher I had 10 years ago who I see from time to time and is a bmw guy, he has this car and wants to get rid of it.

          This.

That's for absolutely no rust, anywhere.

but im sure there is rust that yo cant see. Check the pedal box, firewall, rear fender wells.... but $1500 should be a good starting price

For minimal rust, mostly complete square taillight 2002 that has sat for a while, I'd say around $1500. Depends on how well it will clean up though. Can you bring the paint back or does it need to get a respray right away? Is the interior complete?

                How much would I pay?

Exactly $500 less than I would sell it for

I gave 500 for my non running rust free 75, almost same condition as you describe, clean and sat for years.

So 500-1500. That is a start. Do m42's sit in them well?

                        It's a tough swap.

                          m20 is ezier....

but I must say an m42 in my 72 would be great, a hi revving 4 banger.......other than my dual 40s of course.....

what makes the m42 a hard swap? fitting, electrical, both? A m20 would be fun but I don't think I would ever do it, maybe in a e21 but 02's don't need an I6.

you need to weld in new engine mounts for the m42. i am not sure about this but i think you might need to do some spacing on the fire wall as well.
i want to do an m20 in mine.

edit: i would say $1500. i payed to much for mine at $1700. it had a bit of rust and body damage.
