I think this is how the accord windshield wipers are. (use to own one)

They are ugly, imo. [if I'm assuming correctly on the part]

Tried to look it up on realoem and it looked like a regular wiper blade. If I'm thinking of the same thing the OP is talking about, I think he's talking about the driver's side wiper blade on 8 series cars.

Personally I'd rather just have those Bosch blades that are all one big flexible blade with no metal reinforcement on the back.

I tried looking for a pic but no luck. I would think it serves some purpose. like a bug deflector.

I have that on my E34. Don't think it does anything.

I don't like the bracketless wipers, they are too bulky and tall. The Microedge or Excel ones are good enough.

From what others have told me it reduces the wiper from lifting up at high speeds.

That doesn't look like the one my brother has. It's not a very good picture as he wasn't taking it for the deflector.

How come the passenger side doesn't come with one?

I can see it happening with the solid rubber wipers that I was complaining about earlier but I don't think it is too much of a problem with regular wipers, most of the air follows the lip off the hood. I haven't had any vibrations or chattering at speeds up to 125 or so dont know about what happens when its in operation because I don't want to die yet.

Either way I think I will buy one for the E30, need new wiper arms to match. It will be the mod nobody will notice or care about, then I will get crap cause I could have gotten a tank of gas with that money.

Passenger doesn't need to see lol. I really don't know the point of them but the s14 guys seem to love them.

I've never noticed the passenger skip whilst the driver side did not on the race car while driving in the rain.

Nice to know it's a BMW part, or it wouldn't be legal. LOL.

I have the PIAA super silcon wipers that have the spoiler built it. I had the bracketless style previously and they missed huge sections of my windshield at freeway speeds.
