Grandpa's right. Look at them now. Dont tell anyone, but if you look at the cold hard facts and leave snobbery out of it. It does look tempting in terms of bang-for-your-buck.

but that being said, the genesis sure does look cool.

You are miles behind there buddy. Hyundai has come a long way since the cheap-o days. The new Genesis Coupe is extremely well built. Granted, it is cheap in certain places to save corners. The interior leaves a lot to be desired when you look at the dash and door panels, but it includes excellent factory seating position for anything competing.

The performance is also quite surprising. Handling-wise, the 4 banger handles very similar to most new BMWs I've driven. Sure the cloth intercooler couplers are there, but it leaves room for improvement. 2.0Ts are now seeing 100hp+ out of bolt-ons.

But the best part is the simplicity of the car. Hyundai makes this car ridiculously easy to work on. It's still mostly nuts and bolts, and all of them are easily accessible. I remember installing the juicebox on a 335i, and what a pain in the ass. I couldnt picture anything that tough on a Hyundai.

(Can you tell I drive a Hyundai?)

Not sure if this was in reference to my comment above, but if so, you'll kindly notice I said "Sonata Turbo" and not "Genesis Coupe Turbo."

but wow that pisses me off. sure, buy the Hyundai. then in 5 years when the paint starts to fade, the engine gets bogged down after 75k miles, and the trans goes, come by another!

EDIT: seems like this would be the counter ad

    o and 1st
2011 Sonata Turbo. So what if it looks like a 4-door Solara? It makes 274hp on regular gas, EPA rated at 34mpg highway, carries 5 in comfort, has a 100,000 mile warranty, costs less than $25k AND is *lighter* than the outgoing model. I don't care who you are...that is full of win.

Hyundai is doing some things right.

I personally can see the european styling and the effectiveness of the FWD slogan.

In japan theres sti foresters, but thats besides the point. The good thing about foresters is that their struts can bolt to an impreza and give it a 1-3 inch lift depending on the platform (i.e. gc or newer)

Subaru's are IMO cool simply because im a skiier and because theres a large rally following (and almost any part will bolt to any car, so a budget gc with newer parts from a wrx can be built semi cheap and be very durable), but i do agree with the comments about subaru owners being dykes or douches
