    GT1 available for rent

Hello everyone, I know this doesn't really apply to e30's since all it can do is basically read/clear codes, but I know a lot of you guys have BMW's other than e30's as well.
I recently received a GT1 diagnostic unit from a friend who runs the local import car repair shop in town in exchange for getting another one working for him. (he bought 2 thinking the first was broken) Unfortunately for him the problem was the software, not the unit itself. So the second one he bought had working software. Anyways, long story short he doesn't need 2 of them so he gave me one. Since I've experienced first hand the expense of dealer diagnostic/reprogramming I figured I would offer to rent the unit and offer help to those who want to use it. Since it's such an expensive item I don't want to have it shipped all over the country but I'm available locally anyone can stop by who wants to use it. I'm located in Kalamazoo, MI.

This is a fully functioning unit capable of reading/clearing codes (including abs, airbag, and ews). It can also reprogram faulty modules or flash new ones.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me for more details.

    Blaine

Sounds like the White Van speaker scam... Not to mention it is in the wrong section. And only three posts.

Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

its a laptop unit, not the factory one. Also I don't plan on shipping it anywhere, if anyone want's to use it locally that's what this post is about. If the mods want to move it to the great lakes section that's fine. i just thought I would try to help out fellow BMW owners. If you think it's a scam then don't bother but you don't have to scream BS just because I'm new here.

No they won't, they aren't even supporting 2G stuff at the dealer.

I work at a dealer and BMW has been threatening to take our GT1s away for almost 2 years now, but since our new ISTA system keeps breaking down they let us keep the GT1s for emergency use. I can say that the first year of using ISTA was rough and it was hard to not go back to the GT1s, but they've got ISTA working 95% good and I actually prefer it now. Rumor has it that our 2G equipment will be removed within the next 3 - 6 months. We'll miss the ol DIS+ machine :D

Whats particularly annoying now though, BMW has taken all the modern (newer than e36) repair manuals off of centernet (the online dealer tool) and placed them all on ISTA (the diagnostic system) In theory it should work fine, in practice... every time they have to take the system down for an update we lose all access to information we need! Add that to the nice 20% cut in warranty pay last year... I need to go independent lol.
