Headed to N.C. for the summer!

Well I'm ready for some change after 6 years living in Colorado, so starting tomorrow I'm headed out to Asheville, N.C. for the summer. All my stuff is packed & the BMW is on the trailer, and with only 24-26 hours of driving I'll be there. I previously lived in Boone & W-S for a while, I've always liked Asheville so I'm sure it'll be a good time. I've got a few job options lined up, mostly tech jobs at bike shops in the area, so hopefully that will work out. I'm also excited that N.C. has what seems to be a bit more active e30 scene than what we've got out here, which in my mind equals more meets, more parts, and all the other stuff that goes along with a good enthusiast community. I've got to brave Berthoud Pass and I-70 west of Denver before it's really smooth sailing, and if any of you know the area, or have seen the weather here today, it should be a challenge! Wish me luck, and Carolina, here I come!

I moved to Knoxville, TN about 8 years ago... You will always miss the mountains :D Although there are plenty of good driving roads out here in the Smoky Mountains, its just not the Rocky Mountains. But good luck with your move! There seems to be a pretty big group of E30 guys over in Greensboro / Winston Salem area. Theres a few of us on the other side of the mountains.

Yay, the group gets bigger! I live in Boone now, just know that roads SUUUUUCCCKKK up here in the Appalachians right now because of the shitty winter we had, there are holes and crap everywhere.

Welcome back. NC needs more E30 people! It's a nice drive from Charlotte to Asheville, maybe I'll run into you there sometime.

I just made it into town today, it was an epic trip, we left Denver at 7.30 yesterday morning, and pulled into A-Vegas at about noon today, about 27 hours of straight road trip! The BMW made it no worse for the wear, which is more than I can say for myself. Tomorrow is unpacking, and trying to find a place to store my stuff that can hopefully double as a workspace for this summers gauntlet of car related projects. I'm stoked to rediscover this part of the southeast!

Would I like? Yes, is it in the cards right now? Sadly, no. But I'll definitely keep you in mind when I'm a bit more settled!

Thanks! I just hit Papas & Beer last night for $3 32oz Dos Equis, and I'm excited to check out the local craft beer scene, i hear it rivals CO.

I'm heading up to Asheville Friday for a great concert @ the Orange Peel. From reading this post I guess Barley's and Papas & Beer. I'm looking for some other great spots. The wife and I are trying to end there after out 3 month road trip across the country. Finding a job pretty good?

Check out Hannah Flanagan's! Great Irish pub downtown. Finding a job is going well, I'm looking for a bike tech job, and having 5 years of shop experience sure doesn't hurt. Asheville has a pretty good bike scene from what I've seen & heard. My resume is in to a few different places, and I've got an interview lined up from Friday at what would be my first choice, so if that works out all will be well, and I'll be in the market for a tan sport or M3/cabby interior & some Eibachs in the very near future.

I-40 is closed because of the rock slide a few months ago I guess. If you hop on Google maps it'll show the reroute automatically, iirc.
