    Turbo02 head carnage

On top of everything else goin on in my life, I hate it when all goes wrong.
Takin the turbo 2002 on a joyride turned out to be anything but that. The rad cracked on the freeway, causing the car to overheat . Parking at the BMW dealer was embarassin but it was nothin compared to findin the milky coolant in the oil/ the milky film. I babyd it home and now I donno what I'm gonna do besides pull the head. Hope it's just the headgasket and no head damage, or anything else along those lines.

    Any advice?

I'm betting headgasket plus a little too much timing, they tend to pop pretty easy with that combo. It's a cheap lesson, do that with an MLS head gasket and you'll be looking for new pistons instead.

I parked the car once it overheated and let it sit until needle was half way. Then I filled it back up with water drove down the block to jp's shop. The first time I checked the oil there was no coolant in the oil. But the second time after getting it to jp's shop there was obvius. Milky residue in the oil and under the oil cap. It also sounded liked the car was starting on only two cylinders. Not to mention the car has really bad blow by coming from the valve cover.

That sounds like a good posibility of a warped head, much more common the being cracked in the M10. You are megasquirted now, just go yank a head from Pick and Pull off a 318 with an M10, better combustion chamber anyway.

Cracked head or a head gasket that moved. I strongly suggest o-ringing the deck of the block next time. It works marvel at keeping the HG in place. Even if overheating.

O ringing seems a little too expensive, Ill call a machine shop, and see what They charge to do it, otherwise im set on ARPS or a MLS headgasket. I wonder if I should cam up the head while its off or soemthing (when I get too it?)

O-ringing will cost you about $35-$40 per cylinder at most. And it'll allow you to use regular headgaskets. It is also much, much better at sealing the combustion chamber than a 2002 Turbo cutting ring gasket. No need for layered copper gaskets.

BTW if you run a turbo, you should keep the stock cams.
