          Believe it's a Z3 1.9 shifter.

Yep, its the Z3 1.9. The E36 shifter will be really notchy and tight. Ive got a Z3 in my car, and Ive sold about 20 of them to various friends. They are the most popular. I also have a good write up for installation which includes instructions for swapping the plastic bearing and a replacement for the bushing in the knuckle on the back of the gearbox. PM me if you want it.

I personally have the Z3M shifter, and I know a few others with them too. They are very short. Maybe a little too short for the standard daily driver.

I also have lots of friends with the Z3 shifter and I really like that shifter in daily E30's. It's like combining the super smooth shift from a factory shifter with a shorter throw.

We have a really good thread on all of this here --- http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=41971
