    stu mc mentioned in roundel

    in the tech talk session, the editor says "I also replaced the timing chain idler sprocket, which has been known to fail when the plastic cage surrounding the ball bearings deteriorates with age. This happened on Stuart McHenry's 212,000-mile M42...although to be fair, Stu needed a timing chain replacment long before that - plus his driving style would suit BMW Films."

    :P

    Mike Miller had to have written that. :D

    Thanks for the heads up! I'm famous! :P

    I should mention that Mike has one of my favorite E30 318is's in the USA. It is Diamondschwarz on black interior, with no sunroof. He has plenty of suspension mods, including M3 alloy control arms, Eibach springs, Bilsteins, and ST bars. He also has Borbet Type C wheels in 17" as well as a spare set of 14" baskets in anthracite.

    The trick part of his car is the rear end; 4.27LS. When he took me for a spin in his 318is in St. Louis several years ago (I think I was 15), it really made me fall in love with M42's. :D

    I am trying to convince him to do an M50 swap, though he wants to retain the 318's lightweight front end. Maybe an aluminum block. :)

          What are his credentials? Is he qualified to be the technical editor for Roundel?

            Hey Stu;

            Mike is very close with my dad. He's very very good freinds wit my dad..Yes he ihas been technical writer for Roundel for years. And European car & Bimmer magazine. He also is a Lawyer.

            I've been in his car several times. He made me want the type c's..I got em when I was in high school (15 inch type c's.) He and my dad have went to bmw events together all aroud the US. I grew up with the BMW cca pocono mtn chapter and Mike was there when I was like 7 years old. He's the guy that helped tell my dad about the 88' 535is owned by another fellow close freind Naryan Raja (former pocono mtn chapter member) SO that's how my younger bro got his heavily modded E28. Mike loves that car. In his garage he still has that 1977 e21 car he's making into a track beast. Haha..He is soo slow with the progressof that car. His model fav bmw is the E21 8) . He still didn't finish it. He's too busy. I want my garage like his..Tv and couch with decorations..all with the cars 8)
            He recently got a 2003 bmw sport bike..He uses that more than the 318is. well atleas all sprign/summer. He has put the e30 up for sale..Still i think he doesn't want to get rid of it.
            and yes Stu I've been in his car bfore. I love the blue 4pt harnesses the most. A cool thing is that he likes me car and respects me for all the hard wortk I've done :)

              That's cool that you know him Jim. I have met him at Gateway Tech a few times (BMW CCA technical event in St. Louis). He's a really good guy.

              I want to drive up to PA sometime to let him drive my car and convince him to get an M50 already. :D

                      He's down the road from me Stu..Come to Pa. and I'll help u convince him. After hearing more and more about the M50 S50 swaps..I am thinking about doign it. and learning how to drive a strick. Mike is the original ball buster in regard to making fun of my slush box.. He always jokes with me about what he calls the "womens transmission"

                      My dad has been to Gateway tech with him several times in the past few years, maybe u met him too.
