    Ick, too bad it's a 4-door. 4-door MkII's are ugly as hell.

    Sweet sleeper though.

yeah, they're decent motors, but they're expensive to fix, and harder to get power out of compared to the 325i motors. Now the 951 motors are a different animal all together :D

Dude! That's at Evolution sports! I've been there tons of times, even went on their Leavenworth Drive :D That car looks cool, but.....why? I'd rather have a 1.8T, forget being unique :?

there's always a faster car, as e30 owners we know that all too well. I'd rather have a slower RWD car that actually handles properly than a fast as fuck FWD. Obviously.... ;)

                  Because anyone, time/money permitting, can do a 1.8T swap in a Mk1/2/3.

Wiring gets increasingly more complex the older you go, but the motor essentially drops in to any of the 3 cars. The 1.8T bottom end is based on the JH block from the original US-spec 1983-4 Mk1 GTI; therefore it's an easy fitment. Coupled to an 020 transmission, it's literally a bolt-in.

Seth and his dad had the wrecked 944 already; they purchased it at auction a couple years back (IIRC) with the intent to use it in a different project. That never materialized; this did.

As far as I know, this is a one of a kind, only equalled or exceeded by certain UK tuners (who do insane things like twin-turbo VR's in the back of Mk1 Golfs) or the German tuner ARTZ back in ~1979 (who built a widened Mk1 Golf shell around a full 928 chassis/driveline/interior).

                  That's why they did it.
