New bed - anyone have the lowdown?

I been getting a aweful pain in my neck, and I think it is related to my 10 year old, god awefully soft matterest.

Not to mention the fact it's a twin, and I think it time I get a big boy bed.

Don't care if this new bed only lasts 5 years or so, and I'd like to keep the cost down.

Anyone been thru the bed shopping experence and can shed some light?

I'm really not looking forward to this - but my neck is killing me. Some days I can't even parrallel park cause I can't turn my head. Oh and lane changes arn't so fun either....

    Thanks in advance.

I sell furniture and mattresses(I'm still in school so its not a bad job). If you have any specific questions let me know, but i'll try to give you some general info. It sounds like the mattress definately is your problem. If you're going to upgrade from a Twin size, you might as well go to a queen in you have the space. They're usually isn't much difference between the price of a full vs. a queen. You should be able to get a decent set for ~$500.

I heard they recommend you replace your bed every 5 years or so. It's prob just a way for them to make more money but yeh goto a furniture store and just spend like an hour or so moving and lying on different beds for 5 minutes at a time :) I did it about 14 months ago and i love my beddddd :)

A good mattress should last 10 years. Serta and Sealy are great brands. Just try them out. The most important things is how they feel to you.

i have some tempuerpedic pillows and they are awesome.

Just goto those mattress stores and lie down on them and test them out. I picked up a new queen size mattress for $600 couple months ago. It's been awesome. I suffer from back problems (snowboarding...) so I had to make sure I get a decent one.

On a side note, I also picked up a new bed frame to go with my mattress - the first thing I did was lowering the bed :)

did that help the look, and overall handling of the bed in the twisties?
i am thinking of doing that, but i dont know if it is worth the $
