As shitty as it might sound, you can tell them to fuck off. There is nothing they can do legally. They are not protected under Lemon Law so wtf are they gonna sue for? I am a dealer and can tell you from experience that situations like this suck coz we r all human and sometimes do feel bad for other, BUT shit happens and you cant blame the seller for a bad used car when you buy an old car with many miles and no warranty.Leave a comment:

out of state buyer/transactionYou are a private seller. There is NOTHING they can do legally. Not that this really makes any difference, but do they live in NJ too?
If they are out of state, they cannot do A N Y T H I N G because even if there WAS a NJ law covering private sales, it is voided when it is an out of state buyer.
who knows...sold the car to get another car that could accomodate 2 kids..so I wouldn't be interested in buying it back...I only put 7K miles on it in 3 years.so you sold a kid (who couldn't even drive a manual) a car, that broke...
sounds to me, largely a classic case of driver failure, either heavy left foot or perma-foot.
good news is, the car might be back up for sale for a fraction of what you got for it, and you could eve scoop it back up with profit
]it might be the car- (tempermental i know) choosing (or "not" choosing) its next owner. (like Christine or something) ..
Oh well...we live and learn.Leave a comment:

I have already contacted my attorney regarding the situation.Selling cars is touchy, unless the car is registered right away by the new owner you will be held liable for any tickets or anything the car gets as you're the last/current registered owner. I learned the bill of sale system from my brother, a few years back it saved him in NY when a car he sold was abandoned and the city tried to make him pay the tickets. He showed up to court with his bill of sale showing the car incurred the tickets after the date of sale, the tickets were of course dismissed. It would also negate any chance of legal repercussion similar to what your current buyer is threatening you with. Live and learn, hopefully this all works out for you with no bigger issues than douche bag phone calls.Leave a comment:
