T.V. Shopping...

I'm looking for a 40+ inch TV for my grandfather who has poor vision.

Since his vision isn’t great we want something VERY clear.

Which features make for the best clarity? The budget is $1000-$2000
Which companies have a good reputation for high quality picture?

Not for someone that is half blind!!!!...what they need is SIZE....They never see thoes tiny HD pixels ...

If money is no object get a HUGE HD set, other wise invest in the brightes biggest SD (normal) TV you can find.

Projection TV's will be less clear and darker then normal non projection tv's. I would go with the biggest flat screen Sony or Philips that you can afford. I have a 21" Philips that s clear as day and a 36" Sony Wega (with Trinitron :) ) that also is almighty. IT all depeds on your budget.

Well, as said above the bigger the better for someone who has bad vision, the little pixels don't matter much

the samsung dlp projection tv's will make you blow your load .... thats what my parents have. makes me cry when i come home from college

i have a samsung 65" dlp and its nice but fucking huge. you cant move it once its in place. if it ever brakes ill cut it up with a chainsaw
