You can repair stuff on it cheap, if you can get it for less than 1500

It would be easy to talk him down.
    Tell him:
The suspension is obviously messed up, the car would never sit like that and be normal
It is missing the lip on the valence
    Faded paint (if it is)
    Point out any electrical problems

Inspect the care thoroughly. Lift carpet, panels and all to see if there is rust

Maybe the trunk is just filled with garbage? Just make sure it has no rust.

alright thanks a lot guys.. so from what I understand "if there is no rust go for it" :)
I will check for rust underneath doors, trunk, and lift carpets etc..

well, considering that there are radiators in the front seats, I can only imagine what is in the trunk...

                bang! bang bang bang bang!

Put $1000 cash in front of him and take it away running or not. You can get a new(er) running m42 and tranny for under a grand. Brakes, rotors, calipers, $600

Filters oil, plugs, tranny oil, diff oil, $100

                suspension $660.

your looking at about that much in immediate maintenance... god bless ahlah for the timing chain, maybe a tensioner ($65)

a well sorted 91 318is will go for $5-$6k with those low miles.

                get it.
