You can repair stuff on it cheap, if you can get it for less than 1500

It would be easy to talk him down.
Tell him:
The suspension is obviously messed up, the car would never sit like that and be normal
It is missing the lip on the valence
Faded paint (if it is)
Point out any electrical problems


Inspect the care thoroughly. Lift carpet, panels and all to see if there is rust

Maybe the trunk is just filled with garbage? Just make sure it has no rust.

Filters oil, plugs, tranny oil, diff oil, $100

suspension $660.

your looking at about that much in immediate maintenance... god bless ahlah for the timing chain, maybe a tensioner ($65)

a well sorted 91 318is will go for $5-$6k with those low miles.

Looks nice enough. Seems to be loaded down really bad in the back though... Looks like you should have good heat with those radiators in the front seat! Will need a nice IS lip spoiler to finish it off tho!
