*long read warning, for cliffs go to the bottom*
Hi everyone, Im Cory, been lurking on here for a few weeks now, gathering info and such, finally joined when I got the car. Some of you bay area guys might know me, Im always at local meets and gtg's with the various european clubs/groups around here. As of right now Ive got a turbo'd mustang and a beater Infiniti G20 in my garage, but I added this to the stable the other day. Ill try to make this as short as possible, its been a long few weeks, and Its my birthday and im fighting a wicked hangover. I was doing some sidework for a friend at his buddies semi truck repair shop (I work on Ferrari's and Porsches for a living) and happened to spy this beauty tucked in a corner there. So from what ive gathered, a truck driver that used to store his rig there had this car to drive around whenever he was in town, and he just dissapeared 5 or 6 years ago, and left the car there. Cant get ahold of him or anything. Luckily one of the techs there happened to drive the car around the lot up until a year ago, which made me happy that my task at hand was going to be slightly easier. Didnt pay too much attention to it until I finished my work there, so at the end of it all I asked the owner what he wanted to do with the car. I said Ill give you $100 and tow it out of here if you put a lien on it. He agreed and were working out the legal stuff right now. Found out its a 318 5 speed, 233,xxx miles, and its been to tiajuana twice, hence the messican seat covers, wing and exhaust. Because of the low purchase price, ideally id like to turn it into a LeMons car, I know these are stout cars around a track. But if that dosent happen, it will get an S50, 1JZ or LS1 swap. I know ive got my work cut out for me, but ive revived cars in way worse condition than this. I also found a pack of extra large condoms in the back, which is always a good sign when buying a used car that its going to be a winner
Ill keep you guys updated with the progress of the car, I know how much you like pic heavy build threads. Im sure im going to make a few good discoveries, everything on the car has to be gone through and double checked, Im a firm believer in doing things the right way to save myself from headaches later.
