    Need Help!

Alright guys so I took a freelance job on a e46 323i clutch job. Clutch is replaced and I'm trying to get the trans back on... I loosened the motor mounts and the trans is up in the tunnel on a Jack and 2x4. trans is in neutral. It is literally 2-3cm from mating with the dowel pins but I can't get it that extra distance! It's not caught up on ANYTHING around the bell housing. the input shaft is aligned with the clutch disc and the splines are definately in. could it be getting caught up on the pilot bearing??? I've already started to thread the housing bolts on in a star pattern but there's alot of resistance so I'm not gonna try threading them on any further. The only other alternative I can think of is to put the clutch master cylinder back on, depress the clutch pedal to free up the disc and try to wiggle it on more... any thoughts or advice???? I'm at wits end with this damn thing!!!!
