Shifter kart on the roof rack?

Alright guys, so my co-workers and I built a little shifter kart. Now, I'm wondering how I'm gonna tote this thing around with my e30 haha. I'm thinking of just hooking it up to a roof rack. Am I just crazy or if I get one with a wide enough base would this actually work?

Does double duty as a hauler. I now have a small utility trailer.

We use a small utility trailer to tow our kart. Holy cow does that thing ever add a lot of aero drag though!
