Going to look at an 88 M6 tomorrow, things to look for?

I am going to look at an 88 m6 tomorrow that I found for a shit-my-pants price. $3500. Only 51,000 miles too. The car has been sitting for 2 years in this guy's back yard. He says that it runs, but needs a fuel pump. The only kicker is the car doesn't have a title. But this is Alabama, getting it titled won't be any difficulty.

    Thoughts?

Remember that rebuild on M6 motor = 10k+. I've sen many M6's for 4k or less that were not worth it.

At that price, couldnt he do an s38 swap and still have it for cheaper than buying a good condition m6?

check for rust, self leveling rear suspension, engine leaks and excessive engine noise, look for signs of body repairs and paint

I always find myself asking "why has this car been sitting for 2+ years if it's an easy fix and nothing else is wrong with the car?" Make sure the odometer actually works.

check for an s38 to make sure its no 635 in an m6's clothing. Because 3.5k is way too low for that car, I dont care if it runs or not.

I just looked at it. I might have to pass. It was in pretty rough condition. The body was staright to an extent. The engine would crank, but not start due to the dead fuel pump. The interior was in pretty rough shape too. No structural rust though.. Is it worth it?

How hard is an s38 swap?
                            Restore the car?
Do they make good race cars?

The E24 is a blast on the track once you pull 1000 pounds out it. I have had an M6 and an M635csi. The S38 and M88 are both very durable motors. If the car actually has 50,000 miles getting the motor running should not be a big deal. But a word of warning cost pile up quickly on these cars. Trust me. with that said, I really really really I mean really miss my E24's
