Front License Plate?

Thanks for the answers. Im just not gonna worry about it any longer as the ticket is less than a hundred dollars and wouldnt increase my insurance rates at all.


This is no regular car forum. This IS r3v. Also, by saying probably the speaker indicates a lack of certainty that I was attempting to rid by posting on here. So I can deduce that the speaker will provide no reliable nor palpable information and I can proceed to ignore his response.

You exude ignorance. Re-read what he posted. If you take context in to consideration it is easy to see that his "uncertainty" was not about the law, but about whether or not you would get pulled over for it. And you didn't ignore it... you chose to be a douche bag rather than just move past it.

CA residents: front plate violations (fix it tickets) are $25, no more no less. If you get a tcket costing more than that, there's something wrong and you should call what ever phone # that is on the citation. Look up the vehicle code and cost, it should be on your county's courthouse website, or CA DMV.

You're wrong. There is a base fine plus "administrative fee" which varies by county and counties have been raising the fees to cover for things like property tax shortfalls from all the repo'd houses amongst other things.

Freeride, you didn't get a 100$+ front plate ticket. You clearly stated "parking violation". You got a parking ticket +25$ for the front plate. Parking tickets are expensive as shit. My highschool parking ticket fee was 45$, I imagine SF has a higher fee, most likely 75$+ which is why your ticket was $$$.

yes I did.;) If you're curious, I'll take a picture of it, and put it on this thread tonight. I got a parking violation, *just* for not having a CA front plate. The spot, time, etc.. were all perfect. Cars next to me when I left were still there, had nothing additional than mine. I even took a picture of said parking sign next to my car before leaving the car, to make sure it was okay, which is why this comes in a pretty ironic situation.

Germancarsonly, you should have called or something. You shouldn't have paid the 190$. UNLESS you paid the "bail" price which is a higher fee and requires no fixing.

If you go to the court house or police station and have them sign your ticket off, you will h
be charged an extra 15$ admin fee. You gotta hit up your local starbucks or donut shop to find a cop there. They cannot charge you for that.

I've had euro plate on for almost a year now. just got pulled over for it.
there was an option to not fix it and pay(somewhere around 200$) or fix it and pay the $50

I agree. I have seen so many high dollar cars with holes drilled in the front bumper to mount the plate at the dealer. However in Germany even if you have an Audi r8 you will have a front plate.

The rule for california is really cut and dry. The plates "Both front and rear" needs to be mounted at the factory location from the manufacturer. It is nearly identical to washignton state.

I do know it depands on who pulls you over, state may be different then city etc. Some may issue a different ticket then others.

All that being said CA is our 3rd largest market. Pennsylvania #1 and Florida #2.

That being said, many who's car did NOT come with factory drilled holes in the front, STILL continue to get pulled over by Californian police officers. What if the state of CA was to switch to the system, similar to that of in Tennessee, Georgia, etc? Yeah, I know their reason stems back to some redneck confederate shit, but it could potentially help out state's terrible deficit.
