I appreciate your concern and it will likely be expensive to convert to R134a - which is annoying... I'd like to just recharge the old system. :/-NickOriginally posted by 87e30First of all: calm the fuck down; second of all; cool story bro.

There are still places that have R12 available. Its something like $17 / lb. Do you know anyone that services home a/c systems? They sometimes have R12. That's how I got mine topped off was from a neighbor who just happens to have a 30lb bottle of r12 that's nearly full.
Also, I have many friends that have just shot R134a into an evacuated R12 system and it works fine. No compressor replacement, no seals nothing. If I were going that path i'd probably at least put a receiver/dryer in, but screw replacing a compressor. If the 134 kills the old compressor... replace it then, but its worth a shot to not.'88 325ic - Vert in winter baby!

If you can find R12, expect to pay $200-250 to recharge it fully since it all escaped.
LOL at the kid who says you don't need AC in Ashland. Hell, I use it if it gets above 75 here in Portland. You can't put a price on not having swamp-ass.Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.

The problem you have is that little hexagon thing is a bolt that is screwed into the a/c drier and there is a little piece of rubber in the hole of the hexagon, and it probably was brittle so when you wiped it it broke. I had a similar problem and all I did was went to my local parts yard and picked up another bolt. Problem solved :)
