Fun Day At The Gas Pump! fml

After filling up my tank today I heard a slight trickling coming from the gas tank. I figured had something to do with the transfer pump I swapped out. When I opened the panel under the seat I found a puddle of gas. The nuts on the sending unit were loose so I tightened them up, but it still leaked. I tightened one nut a little more and it snapped off.

Is there any way to fix this broken bolt? Is it even safe to be driving with all that gas leaking around the electrical connections for the pump and sending unit? Looks like instead of replacing a 3 dollar o-ring I'm going to have to buy a $200 transfer pump.

WTB: used working fuel transfer pump for early models.

West German BMWs, they just don't make the same as they did before the wall fell.
^Case in point: Auto-Repair Technology. Everytime my car isn't starting or acting up I let it sit, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for days. But it eventually fixes itself.

I had that problem when I replaced and swapped fuel tanks. I was driving at highway speed and the leak was being forced back at the motion of my speed. I placed an absorbing hospital bed towel on it.. But later on I found the fix when I opened it all up the O Ring had been crushed. I replaced the O ring and no more leakage. About that bolt.. Ehh if it's tight enough to seal the case I would plop it back up and replaced the rings.. then bring it back down.
