A GPS and a stack of CDs?

Oh and oil and water. That's what I had in my last E30 for the nearly 1400 mile roadtrip.

I'm taking a 3 hour trip in my newly finished swap up to Reno today. I'll bring a quart of oil and a container of water, plus the spare tire/breaker bar I always have in the car.

Its a 60k mile motor though, I doubt anything will go wrong.

I always keep a gallon of water in my trunk. At all time.

If you have the foresight to bring water, why not just bring actual coolant?

Simple. If I face an emergency situation that requires to temporarely fill up the cooling system, chances are that a hose is toast. Meaning it will need fixing very, very soon. Therefore, when removing the bad hose, all the engine coolant will be dropped and require a refill. So why waste good antifreeze for an hour or two? Also, if I have an engine bay fire, I don't want to throw glycol at it... while plain water works great.

A good thing to bring to fix cracked cooling hoses is a bicycle tube repair kit with big patches.
