I talked to the guy's brother. He bought it for about 12,000 and still has his 25,000 Land Rover.

His brother was also saying that he will soon be buying a Merc SL for a cheap 10,000. I wish I had that much just to spend on my car.

I believe you mean: "I wish my parents had that much money to irresponsibley blow on me when I'm 17. Instead of giving me something to start an IRA or a decent mutual fund account, they let me blow 40k of their money on rapidly depreciating cars that I will wreck".
