going rate for an auto 325is?

Looking at an automatic 1988 325is, curious what you would pay for one in good shape, minimal rust (just a little on the rocker panels) interior is in ok shape, paint is ok, it's black. 140k on the odo.

Doesn't know when the timing belt was changed and has no service records. Original tranny.

    EDIT: 1000 since no records

mines an 89 325is, which was auto with 120k, and i picked it up for $1200. it has come sooooo far.

    no reason you cant either.

Yeah, I offered $1200 because it's all I have, but it was a no go. I haven't seen it yet, just negotiating via text.

If you haven't seen it and are taking the sellers word that it has just a little rust on the rockers it is a rusted out pile worth $300. If it was actually in good shape I'd say it'd be worth what a manual is worth minus the cost of a 5-speed swap.

yeah not much. Little rust = RUST. But either way, somewhere around a grand.

Where are you located? The prices seem to vary from state to state. A rust free cali car back east is gold. Even in cali though they are getting harder and harder to find. Color? Interior condition? All these things make a difference. I got mine for a great deal at $1400. I could have sold it for $3000 the next day. Now I could probably get $5000 out of it with very little done. With visible rust, I'd say no more than what you offered because you know there is bound to be hidden rust as well.
