I found this on craigslist and was thinking about picking it up just for fun, can anybody tell me about these things?

I already tried to post this once and it was replace by some whacko john deere post saying that it was mine... i'm not sure what that means, but here we go again...

I have a 1969 BMW 1600 I'm unfortunately selling. It has some interior damage to the seats, and has minor rust on the outside, nothing too crazy though. I've replaced the alternator, battery, spark plugs, oil filter, belts, done chemical replacing myself (oil, coolant, lubrication), new wipers. All working lights, vents, windows, doors, locks. Runs and drives great. I have a few pictures right now, and can get more if you're really interested. Very firm on the price as I know it will sell, but I also know what I've put into it. Thanks for looking, serious inquiries only please 3023818268 if you want more information, no emails please i'm tired of spams and scams. -Drew

Some are 6volts, some are 12. In 1969 it should be a 12v and have a brake booster. That chassis is great as it weights nothing. You can fit a 2 litre M10, an M20 or an S14... Just make sure the shell is structurally healthy.

If he front seats are dead, you can drop-in some e21 seats. Bolt-on.

1602s/2002s are wondefull little cars that saved BMW from bankrupcy.

If it is mechanically sound and the body is in decent condition then that is a good price. Make sure to check for rust in all the usual places; front valence, floorboards, rocker panels, shock towers, and anywhere else you can lightly poke with a screw driver.

You will definitely have fun in it, for me there is nothing like driving an 02.

It's an '02 on the beach. That alone would make me a little leery. That being said, if it's a solid car, 1800 bucks is great for an early example like that.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

if it has minor rust on the outside i am going to say it has rust on the inside. definitely check the floor, and the areas in the wheel wells where dirt collects right behind the tires.

these cars are old so be ready to do a fair amount of work on it even if it looks to be in really good shape.

i have a '74 and it is so much fun! that said i have something new to fix on it every month. right now it is the fuel level sender that crapped out on me.

I bought my 1969 from Santa Rosa in California. Car was a beach side car all of its life. It didn't have one spot of rust. Utah is also mostly a dry state. So, I say. GO AHEAD. BUY THAT CAR.
