Not to sound rude or out of place, but perhaps it would be a good idea if you seek some counseling. Apparently there are family issues that if left unresolved might be a problem in the future. I am in no way making fun or light of your situation. Nor am I trying to be a know-it-all. Truth is I feel for you and your situation.

Your Dad is not unlike many of my generation ( I'm 53). Lost when it comes to realizing that reality is nothing like what we thought it would or should be back in the 60's-70's growing up.
